Trish and J.T.’s wedding at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church and Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Hall

We love Trish and J.T. so much! We first met them as a bridesmaid and groomsman at Lily and Jordan’s Isleworth Country Club Wedding and we were so honored that they hired us shortly after their engagement. Trish and J.T.’s wedding was filled with fun and love. The Ceremony was at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Fort Myers and Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Hall in Port Charlotte. Although the wedding took place in J.T.’s hometown and paid tribute to his Greek heritage, Trish made sure her love of Maryland was represented. This wedding was so much fun and full of love. We look forward to seeing them again at J.T.’s sister, Jenna’s, wedding in the spring of 2014!

How did you meet?
JT and I met on Labor Day weekend 2009. After a few dates, he took a chance by asking me to a tailgate where I would be introduced to some family and massive group of friends. Even though it was early in our relationship, this is when I knew he was the one for me. When I met Jim, Cathy, Jenna, Sandy, Poppa, and the rest of the Sanders family and high energy group of friends, I instantly felt home. Family is second on my list of life priorities as well, following faith.

How did he propose?
J.T. proposed to Trish in her favorite spot, her parents dock. Trish’s immediate family was there to watch. They celebrated that day by meeting up with friends by boat on the Chesapeake Bay of Maryland.

What was the best part of your wedding day?
The best part of our wedding day was the beautiful traditional Greek Orthodox ceremony we had at The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Punta Gorda, Florida.  I have never felt more blessed in my life to hold my father’s arm and walk down the aisle to marry a man I adore.

Where did you go on your honeymoon?
Scrub Island Marriot in the British Virgin Islands

Where are you now in life?
Enjoying being newlyweds in Orlando, Florida.

Were there any special traditions incorporated into your wedding?
Yes – money throwing and Greek ceremony.

What was your color scheme or theme?
Mint – Grecian

What is the one thing you had to have at your wedding?
Great music and transportation home from the venue.  It was important to us that everyone had a sober ride home after partaking in the wedding celebrations.

What was the best decision you made in regards to your wedding?
Hiring a wedding planner.

Do you have any advice to a new bride?
Yes, work hard to plan and organize your wedding to iron out the details so that on your wedding day, you can relax!

Was there anything you wished you had done at your wedding that you didn’t do?
Yes, I wish I would have hired a company to help with the clean-up and organization of the day-after items.

What was your big splurge?
[Michele Butler Events] Trish was so great about sticking to her budget and not having any extravagant purchases. J.T. knew his bride-to-be had to sacrifice a few things from her original vision, so he came to us directly. He made sure that Trish would be wowed when she walked through the door. So he sprung for some gorgeous starburst chargers rented from A Chair Affair and had Caloosa Tent & Rentals install an elegantly draped tent to keep their guests in the shade and cool during cocktail hour.

Is there anything you would have done differently?
No

What was the most memorable moment?
Throwing dollar bills!

How was your experience working with Michele Butler Events?
I first met Michele Butler of Michele Butler Events at a friend’s wedding that I was a bridesmaid in. I am an extremely organized person and when she arrived and handed out picket-sized schedules for the bridal party, I was immediately impressed. My friend’s wedding was extremely smooth and absolutely beautiful. When I got engaged, I knew right away who to call – Michele. My husband and I were married in a small town in south-west Florida called Punta Gorda. Michele and her team were able to help me plan the wedding from Orlando where we live, even though the big day was at a destination a few hours away. We had a big Greek wedding of 250 people, so it was no small challenge. From everything to florist, linens, photographer, videographer, and more, if I needed someone to contact, Michele had 5 – 10 options for me with different price ranges and styles. One of Michele’s team members, Cathrina Dionisio, consistently went above and beyond to help me create a vision of my wedding and stay consistent with that theme. Cathrina even attended meetings with me, and designed my save the dates. My wedding day was the best day of my life.
