Julie and Gary’s Wedding at Longwood Community Building

Love this couple!  Loved this wedding!  This wedding was very special to us because Julie & Gary weren’t just clients, but dear friends— some of our closest in the event industry.  Michele and Cathrina handled the majority of the planning but Cathrina took the lead as planner and designer as Michele was also an invited guest.  Cathrina also assisted with many graphic design aspects for the wedding such as the signage and programs.  Since Gary and Julie are photographers, they wanted the best of the best and some of the best wedding photographers were already invited guests at the wedding, so they flew their photographer in from New York. She did an amazing job of capturing the wedding day.

This wedding was casual and fun, just like the couple. It was held at the very adorable, Victorian era inspired Longwood Community Building. To make things a bit different than all of the weddings they attend, they saw each other prior to the ceremony and also had a pre-wedding cocktail hour.  Guests were invited into the ballroom to witness the ceremony while enjoying their beverages at their assigned dinner seat.  This wedding had the stamp of Julie & Gary on it everywhere. Nothing was cookie cutter. The bridesmaids wore different gowns in varying shades of blue. All of the containers used in the their centerpieces were all collected and reused jars and bottles from their own kitchen. The food was from their favorite BBQ joint. The music was a folk band made up of friends of theirs. And to honor Julie’s father who had passed away, the family along with the newly married couple danced did a Square Dance which was a recorded version called by her father. Each and every one of their friends and friendors shed many tears.  It was wonderful to see this unique and fun loving couple unite.

From the bride and groom:

The best detail of my wedding was my friends and family each having a special contribution to the event. They took on creating homemade strawberry jam favors, a multitude of custom cupcakes and cookies set on a wonderfully quirky and crafty dessert table, a gift card holder that looked like a British phone box, and playing live music during cocktail hour…our best man took on double duty to also be our officiant! We were more than just a bride and groom—we are also wedding professionals. We called on their industry friends and let them run wild. Not only did our vendors bring their A-game, but they also took their seats as guests. There was so much love involved in this wedding and everyone felt it.
