3 Fresh Takes on Wedding Bouquets

Your wedding bouquet.  One of the most dazzling accessories of your special day.  Even though it may be a small part of the day, it shouldn’t be overlooked!

This is the piece de resistance!  Well, it can be if you want it to be!

Many of our brides are looking for fresh takes on the traditional bridal bouquet.  For some, a tight round bouquet of roses may be the perfect fit, but for others, a new look that catches the attention of guests and complements the personality of the day is the exact feel they are going for.

Fortunately, these days are custom to creative designs and floral designers are eager to think outside the box and create unique pieces that are truly spectacular.

Here are three fresh looks we are in love with.  Take them as inspiration to what yours could be!

1. Large, Free-flowing Bouquets of Natural Greens & Wildflowers

We have to admit, this is one of our favorites!

If you’re looking for a statement piece that is stunning, yet unpretentious, this look should be highly considered!

We love the long stems of greens and wildflowers tied loosely with ribbon and a dainty lace fabric (consider grandfather’s handkerchief or grandmother’s linen).  A sharp color such as this purple stands out, but it’s not overwhelming due to the amount of greenery it sits within.  However, even white or ivory flowers would give this look a romantic aura.

This look has sophistication written all over it, with a relaxed and free feel.  The juxtaposition of class with the feel of serenity makes this a timeless bouquet and certainly a talking piece amongst guests!

2. Non-Floral Textures

How can we not love this cotton bouquet?!  The warmth and coziness it brings to a wedding is fresh and FABULOUS!  Perfect for a fall or winter wedding.

Cotton not quite your thing?  Use this idea as inspiration!  Consider utilizing non-floral elements in your bouquet.  It may take some time throwing out ideas with your floral designer, but sometimes these bouquets can be the most memorable.

These textures don’t have to be the main look of the bouquet – flowers can still have a presence, but adding in features that are unexpected make bouquets modern and meaningful.

Think…brown plaid fabrics looped amongst greens and florals for a chic fall wedding, pinecones and pine tree branches for a cozy winter feel, or even small fruit added to a summer soiree!

3. Less Can Be More

Many bouquets have many different flowers or many of the same flower.  Beautiful – and traditional.  However, a lot of brides like the traditional idea but are looking for a slight twist.

If you’re considering a different type of look, but still like the idea of traditional flowers you may want to select a statement flower which is only shown 1-3 times in the bouquet amongst greenery.

This bouquet pops and the flowers are noticeable and striking.

We love the idea of:

– one large succulent with complementing floral or greenery around it

– a few large peonies surrounded by soft greenery

– one large, David Austen rose (these smell amazing!) amongst bright greenery

This idea could also help with budgeting as it’s using less flowers.  Ask your floral designer for ideas and costs.
